@ LEE'S PARTYS

@ LEE'S TECH DAY 2010Another great Tech Day thanks to the attendees and sponsors. We had great weather, event and ride.

There will be many pictures from Jay and Tony's video too. Thanks to Dratv for the support for the fifth straight year. The highlight to me was the ride to In and Out Burger with Jay's wife Christy in my sidecar.. She was a good sport and I was careful of the precious cargo too. My humble assistant Steve and Sue did a great job with the lunch and most of the attendees showed up at In and Out and the food and seats were waiting. I counted 27 bikes (one with a sidecar) a nash metro and a few cars too.

Thanks Jay and Mel for organizing the ride with great views and riding challenges for me and the mutant ct. We started with some wind and cool weather and warmed up to tee shirt weather.

My 1978 ct90 (soon to be on ebay) took first place in the slow contest and Todd also used it to run the second best time of the day. I think being the slow contest bike will add a few hundred to the value. I will mention it in my ebay auction like winning the Kentucky Derby. I actually had third place till Warren took the top position. Hey Warren don't you still owe me for the gas. The Ridgecrest gang did another great job with the slow course and this year we didn't take out any plants or sprinklers.

I always forget someone so this is my general thanks to all for the great event..........Lee the Tech Day Guy.

@ TECH DAY 2009Tech Day was a great success with almost 50 attendees and 23 on the Sunday ride. Most of my day was in the "Lee do you have........?" mode. The secret session was a complete bike build from the frame to a running bike. Those that stayed, heard the bike roar at the end of the day. There were many success stories of dead and broken bikes coming to life (the whole purpose of Tech Day) too and the trials course was a great addition to the event. There are too many people to thank but here goes:

Dratv for his generous sponsorship for the fourth year straight. Mel and Jay for coordinating the ride The Ridgecrest boys for the trials course Tony for filming the event & Jay too All those that brought goodies and Larry for the doughnut for my daughter Ellen at reproduction decals My daughter and Brian for letting us mess up their house Cory and Eddy for getting my ct70h brought back to life Everyone that brought things for the raffle table (thanks Bill for your generosity) and those that contributed to the junk pile Allen for hosting all our pictures and video of the event Steve for registration and raffle The other people I forgot to thank!

A couple of extra notes.......Val I have your chairs, Rick I found the kickstand, James I found your red coke cargo holder in the middle of the road after the ride

With Tech Day over I can finish my Taxes and get on with other stuff.

Tony sent me this nice note and a couple of participants need to see it..........Lee

Lee.....It is hard to believe that another Tech Day has come and gone. I hope I don't sound like a broken record when I say, "You have done it again and have topped another Tech Day"! It is always good to see my SoCal bretheren and all the new people who are getting more involved with their tiddlers and are like a sponge on all the new knowledge and better idea's passed on at Tech Day. The Desert Fox (Todd Evans) was a big hit when he set up the "Trials" course in your back yard. I have never seen bigger smiles and laughs than those on the faces of all the people who ran your course. We all have a lot more respect for those who run trials and make it look so easy. And congratualations to Denny for having the best time of the day! Bill Frank might not have finished putting his bike together by noon of Tech Day, but he did start the motor by the end of the day! That is really an accomplishment out of a pile of parts. He is going to have a beautiful orange 1974 CT 90 that will have more bling on it than any 1974 CT 90 I have ever seen. I also want to say thanks for the new Honda cylinder and piston I won in the raffle so generously donated by Bill Frank. By the way, Bill if you don't have enough room for your new '74, I have plenty of room to store it for you up here at my house in Livermore! Last and certainly not least, thank you so much Lee for giving me the beautiful chrome and stainless steel exhaust system for my "Rat Motor" that will go into my 1981 CT110. It will sure have some Super Bling now with this exhaust system!!!!! If all goes well, I will bring it down to Tech Day 2010 to go on the sunday ride. :)Tony(:

@ LEE'S TECH DAY 2008Tech Day 2008 was a great success. I was so busy fetching that I missed many of the sessions. It is difficult to thank everyone involved in the day...... Mel, David and Don for their sessions. The secret session was a really cool (but hot) exhaust repair by David and his welder. Mel did two sets of forks and Don laced one of my wheels that I then donated to James. The junk pile was very popular this year. Several items barely hit the ground and were gone. Thanks to Tony, Jay and others for video work. Steve for registration. Allan for vin verifications. Ross spent the day fixing bikes for Rick, Kelly and he assembled the rat motor for Tony this afternoon too! Soon we will hear the rat motor sing.

This is a general thanks because I know I missed someone. Oh....my daughter Maritte for helping and making coffee and store runs.......

The raffle was fabulous! Jack at Dratv.com donated $1,700 of great items that filled a very large table and then Jay, Ross Desert Todd, Rick and many others donated too. BTW....I found the big bore kit in the bottom of the box with the wrapping paper today so it will be saved till next year's raffle. Our artist David make the sponsor sign and I hope Jack will post some Tech Day pictures on his site. Nate was giving out valve adjustment tape to anyone that would take it. I did get to take apart one of my suitcase cycles. Wait till you see the pictures, it looked like a motorcycle accident. The day was so busy Mel and I didn't realize we forgot the tune session till today.

Long distance award was Cory from Washington State. I hope everyone had a nice time and learned from the event. Thank you all for making Tech Day a great event......Lee the party planner

@ LEE'S TECH DAY 20072 1/2 more days till Tech Day. First time attendees are in for a treat. Others for better than ever. Some information you will need is as follows:

I dont really do a schedule for Tech Day but here are some ballpark times, the Friday party will start after 4 pm and end around 9 pm. It will be on the rear patio so bring a coat in case it cools off in the evening. We will probably order pizza from our favorite around 600. There is no schedule and it is a social evening. Beer and wine are ok if you like. There is a market on Pigeon Pass very close to my house.

I plan to do the actual setup early Saturday. You will not be able to miss my house. The for sale section is on the front driveway so you will be greeted by a sea of cts. Mel and I decided the twins (pair of matching 1969 k1b's) will be $500 for the pair (they are rough but will be great too). You will see more small Honda's than you probably have ever seen in one place on Saturday.

The Honda display area will be on the other side of the driveway so just the front driveway will have 20 hondas and Don's custom and the chopper bike, ct70s st90 and some of Tims street Hondas and a few suitcase cycles too. When you arrive you will pass through the gate on the side of the house. You will sign in, get a name tag and raffle ticket. Dont loose the raffle ticket because the prizes are great. So far Jack at Dratv donated a huge box along with 20 $5 off your next purchase too, Ross provided some battery's, spark plugs etc, Jay has a couple of impact driver sets, and others are bringing raffle prizes too. You will be able to trade during and after the raffle for something you need. This will make the raffle more fun and someone is going to score big with the Dratv large prizes. I am wishing front rack............

There are five scheduled sessions, tune, star gear and clutch, re spoke, fender straightening, and secret. You don't have to attend sessions. If you want to continue to work on your bike or visit with a friend that is what you will need to do. In addition there will be other experts wandering and helping. Don has agreed to check spokes and Nate is the clutch adjustment person. Learn how to adjust the clutch too. The tune session is a hands on session. Mel will be the leader and you will tune your bikes too. You will be able to do your own bike or loaner bikes are also available. My orange 1974 cream puff and 1970 suitcase bike will be available as guinea pigs for the session. There will be other experts to assist you with this process. It will be one of the longest sessions. If you have valve gauges or timing lights we will need all we can get for this session.

If you are doing a clutch remember to soak your plates! The 1981 ct110 for this session was disassembled last weekend and is ready to quickly go through the process. You will be able to see what happened to the star gear on that bike and will also understand the most common weakness of the ct. That way you can buy a bike that doesnt shift for a song and fix it easily with the proper tools. We have seen this so often that I am surprised Honda didnt come up with a better setup.

There will be several displays, raffle prizes, split case, rat motor, and carb display. I have collected original NOS carbs for ct200, ko, ct90 and 1978-79 too. You will be able to see how these parts looked from the factory to compare to yours. I will also have a ct90 carb in pieces to show the emulsion tube and other parts.

Lunch will be a ride (parade through the neighborhood) to "In and Out Burger". We will have some loaner bikes but there will be cars going too. This year we will take the orders first to make it easier for everyone. There may be some confusion with the orders with the large group. We will do the best we can.

The Sunday ride starts at 8:30 at Joshua Tree National Park. It will be perfect. The weather forecast of 80 is a gift from god for March. It will be desert clear and very scenic. We will be in the road most of the ride and riding throught campgrounds and a 15 mile improved dirt road. BE CAREFUL BECAUSE PEOPLE PULL OFF THE ROAD TO LOOK. THE SPEED LIMIT IS ONLY 35 BUT I DONT WANT ANYBODY HURT. It is a national park so please anticipate bad drivers from other countries and just bad drivers. You will need a licensed bike for this ride although the Rangers will probably leave us alone. Entrance is $15. There will be a late lunch after the ride around 2 pm to end the Tech Day celebration. It is at a really fun location.

Parking in the neighborhood. Please fill up my street and the continuation of my street across Western Ridge Road. You will see what I mean when you get into the neighborhood. There are no houses facing Chief and it is a good parking area that will not affect any neighbors. We will fill up the neighborhood. I have arranged with my next door neighbor to use her driveway too. So my street first, across Chief next and then you will need to park on Western Ridge Road. The homes have large lots and therefore long areas to park. Try not to park directly in front of a house if possible.

See you all this weekend........
